RE. Morocco NGB Recognition
On February 24, 2003 the ISA had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Hicham El Ouarga, President of the newly formed Federation Royale Marocaine de Surf et Bodyboard (FRMSB) here at the ISA Headquarters in San Diego.
As per the ISA’s membership policy, in order for an organization to be recognized by the ISA, the entity must be certified by its National Olympic Committee or highest sport authority as the sole governing body for surfing in its nation. Mr. Ouarga has provided original documentation notarized by the Prime Minister of Sports in Morocco, stating that the FRMSB is the only national entity authorized to organize Surfing and Bodyboarding Events with the objective of identifying the possible future talent (champions) on a national and international level. It also states that the FRMSB is authorized to represent Morocco in international surfing competitions.
Mr. Ouarga provided a copy of the FRMSB Constitution, a list of officials as well as a letter from the Minister of Tourism in Morocco stating its support of the newly formed FRMSB.
The ISA asks Association Cap Surf Morocco if it agrees to allow the FRMSB to carry on the status of the official ISA NGB for Morocco. If Cap Surf agrees, please state this agreement in writing, signed by you and the President of Cap Surf. Please fax and email this letter to the ISA Headquarters (fax number above). If Cap Surf disagrees with this request for change of NGB recognition, your organization must provide all proper documentation verifying that the Association Cap Surf Morocco continues to be the official NGB of Morocco, recognized by the Moroccan government and represents all surfers of your nation.
Please respond with Cap Surf’s decision by March 14th, 2003. If the ISA does not receive communication from Cap Surf disagreeing with the ISA’s proposal by this date, then the ISA should feel free to recognize the FRMSB as the official ISA NGB of Morocco.
The ISA looks forward to hearing from you very soon.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have further questions.
Sincerely,
Lindsay Nelson
